I recently went into a home with a raised basement floor, great right? This made easy access to the plumbing, duct work and electrical while never having to worry about flooding. All seemed well until I inspected the crawlspace and found the earth heaving towards the bottom of the floor joists, along with improper vapour barrier causing mold. No wonder the homeowner wanted to sell. Unfortunately the sellers failed to mention it, perhaps they didn't even know. After This inspection, the property was reduced significantly due to the findings, and the home inspection saved the couple from potentially thousands of dollars in costly repairs. Don't worry they eventually found a good home.
